From the Winery

Sauvignon Blanc is said to be one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon - the other being Cabernet Franc. Our premier Croze Sauvignon Blanc is an elegant wine with true California style. This delicate and lovely wine began life in the hills of Lake County, overlooking Clearlake. This beautiful wine reflects it's terroir - hot days, cool nights, perfect soil. The delicate nose has a hint of newly-mown grass, and the wine's straw color mirrors the surrounding grass lands at harvest.

Tasting Notes

2006 Croze Sauvignon Blanc is light, crisp and well balanced. The moderate structure compliments its bright fruit character, which is in keeping with the winemaker's philosophy and style. Its bouquet reveals fresh aromas of citrus and grapefruit with a hint of newly-mown grass. As the wine warms in the glass, melon and pineapple flavors emerge. The finish is agreeably long and full.

This Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with poultry, fish and pasta dishes. It's perfect with rich sauces and soft cheese. It's also great for sipping - share a cool, refreshing glass with a friend!

I put this bottle of 2006 Croze Sauvignon Blanc at top billing in my Q pretty much as soon as it was announced on the site. I had tried the Croze Rose back in July from my last WineQ shipment and really enjoyed it. I'm actually considering it as a Thanksgiving wine! So it was a no-brainer to add the Sauvignon Blanc.

On the nose I found grapefruit, a sweet tropical fruit note, and pineapple. A very enticing aroma and it made me want to jump right in...especially given our weather....seriously, 90+ in October?? In the mouth the wine was light and crisp. The fruits were tropical, with pineapple, citrus, and peach showing through.

We drank this on its own but I would definitely pair it with my crab legs when I get another bottle.
