From the Winery

Hannah Nicole Vineyards is a family-owned winery producing award-winning Bordeaux and Rhone varietal wines in the eastern portion of Contra Costa County, California. On the edge of the California Delta Waterways, we enjoy long warm summers with cool evenings. During the average growing season, we receive less than 1 inch of rain! We enjoy daytime temperatures that occasionally rise to triple digits and then drop more than 40 degrees in the evening, creating optimal growing conditions for wine grapes. All of our wines are very food-friendly and offer a tremendous value in relation to other California regions.

Tasting Notes

Meritage, pronounced like heritage, is an invented word that combines the words merit and heritage, reflecting the spirit of the Meritage Association to identify wines that represent the highest form of the Winemaker's Art - blending.

Deep in color and rich in flavor, this wine exhibits a smooth and elegant texture. Flavors of black cherry and plum converge with hints of chocolate and mint, leading to a smooth, long finish. Great with lamb, beef, or chocolate!

Drinking this wine is like the first drive in a new car, its lush leather seats cushioning the ride. The dirt road hardly jars your trip, despite the potholes, what with that premium set of shocks... Besides, you're all caught up in the scenery anyway, admiring the redwoods that line the lane on one side and peppercorn trees on the other. Pop in a stick of cinnamon gum once you're done with the cherry vanilla coke, and it's smooth sailing all the way home.

Medium garnet color tapering to slight gold at the edges. Vanilla, chocolate, cherry and a slight funk are on the nose upon opening, followed by similar yummy flavors and a mild tannic grip that should soften in time. Pair this wine with chocolate or a hearty roast. Or, if it's the holidays, set out an assortment of vanilla- and chocolate-laced cookies for Santa and be sure to swap that traditional glass of milk for this wine - you'll never be on Santa's naughty list again!
