Tasting Notes

Winemaker's Notes:
This rich yet refreshingly crisp Chardonnay is completed by a long, creamy and complex finish. The moderate palate weight, when coupled with an intense mouth-feel, creates a perfectly food-friendly Chardonnay.

Aromas:
Intense lemon and tropical fruits dominate the nose but hint at the softness imparted from partial malolactic fermentation.

Flavors:
A burst of crisp acidity is balanced by pear and peach flavors, followed by similar lifted, perfumed aromas.

Finish:
A long and intense finish of crisp fruit is beautifully balanced by creamy developed notes.

Pair With:
Roasted poultry with herbs, plain shellfish, mildly spiced fusion dishes or a medium-flavored herbed goat cheese.

Color: Golden straw Nose: Intense mouth-watering fruit that clearly implies good food acidity, with Meyer lemon, peach, pear, apricot and other citrus, with underlying toast and cream. Palate: Similar to the mouth with fruit, great acidity, and that underlying toast and cream, what a fascinating combination of these two usually separate styles. Finishes long with minerality. -Ward Kadel (drxeno) Read my full review at WineLog http://www.winelog.net/wines/wine/29408

This was a creamy chardonnay that gets its body from partial malolactic fermentation in oak, and its crispness from a majority of fermentation time spent in stainless steel tanks. It was a pleasant bright straw in color, and had aromas of summer orchard fruits like pear and apple, and some late summer hay. The flavors you will find in this wine are of apples and cream, with a faintly buttery aftertaste. All in all, I found this a nicely made example of a creamy, California Chardonnay with good QPR. It will appeal to anyone who likes a richer style of chardonnay, but one that is still fresh and crisp.

Buttered green apple, vanilla, oak and traces of lime were in the aromas, along with something reminding me of the oil from roasted mixed nuts. The wine made a creamy entry on the palate before balanced backing acidity emerged. There were tastes of apple, apple peel, pear, a slight leafy/spicy character, with balanced oak and vanilla. There was a lingering apple and lime finish. I also noted some heat from the alcohol. Overall this wine had good balance, tasted natural, with all the components in harmony rather than anything being overblown. Also of note is that all the grapes used for this wine were organically grown. This didn't have that sweet, processed feel that I get from so many California chardonnays. The flavors were natural and I felt this was a well-made wine.
