Joseph Family Vineyards 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
From the Winery
Joseph Family Vineyards is a small family-owned and operated producer of classic Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Located in the southeast corner of the Alexander Valley, our vines climb a steep rocky slope with shallow soils above the Russian River Valley.
Our winemaker, Scott Peterson, began working with our grapes over a decade ago while running the red wine program at Kendall-Jackson, where he directed our grapes into the winery's premier programs.
Our wine is made in the classic Bordeaux style and can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for 10-15 years.
Tasting Notes
Exotic wild berries and fleshy stone fruits infuse our 2004 Cabernet. This wine is characterized by sweet, mature tannins, well integrated with notes of creamy and textured oak. The fruit is bigger, though the alcohol level is only marginally higher than our 2003 vintage. Temperatures were not too hot throughout September, which allowed for longer hang time - a great benefit for us in helping develop balanced and extracted flavors in the fruit. Enjoy!

I served this bottle with what I knew was not going to be a fantastic match (parmesan baked tilapia and cheese risotto), but it didn't so much matter as the wine needed much time to air/time to breathe before it was ready to drink. After about an hour in our glasses it was great and is very drinkable now, though I would guess that with some more time in the bottle this will be a fabulous bottle of wine.
