From the Winery

We've found that most people cut straight to the chase and call this Verdelho simply, "Bordello." While it is true that this sinfully delicious wine will make you want to put on the red light... walk the streets for money... those days are over. You don't have to sell your body to the night. You don't have to wear that dress tonight!!

The Silvaspoons Vineyard is located Northeast of Galt in the newly recognized Alta Mesa district of the Lodi AVA. This Portuguese white grape is an early ripener with great natural acidity very reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc. The berries are light greenish to golden in color but the skins are quite thin, yielding a white grape juice that is almost pale straw in color.

Tasting Notes

"Mandrake? You listening? Purity of Essence. That's what this Verdelho has. You'll never catch a Commie drinking this Verdelho. Why, Mandrake? Because it's full of exotic aromas of bananas, citrus, lilac. And, it is bursting with crisp, fresh fruit flavors of apricots and honeydew melon. Mandrake, this is the purest expression of fruit from a vineyard as you will ever taste. Drink it now, like a man!"

Food Pairings: By itself! As an aperitif - clam chowder - oysters and other aphrodisiacs - Spanish and Asian foods!

Color: pale yellow Nose: Bright, bright lemon and zesty citrus, but also some tropical fruits. Palate: Mouth-wateringly good, with the fruit in the nose and then some floral as the wine finishes out. Begs for a picnic and some light fare! Please see my full review at WineLog.net: http://www.winelog.net/wines/wine/38269/twisted-oak-alta-mesa-silvaspoons-vineyard-verdelho-2006

Light, clean melon flavors made this Verdehlo a perfect pair with a BBQ outside with friends watching the kids splash in the pool with various blow-up floaty toys and water guns. I'm adding it to my club while the weather is still hot!
